How to Register

In order to trade on the Colombo Stock Exchange, you will need to fill in the following forms based on whether you are an Individual or Institution. Once the forms are handed over to our office, we will commence the processing of the forms and strive to get the Account opened within 2 working days.

1.Individual Investors

1.1 Resident Sri Lankans

Required Supporting Documents

  • A clear copy of the National Identity Card (NIC).
    If the NIC is not available, a copy of a valid passport as of date.
  • Copy of Utility Bill / Credit Card Statement / Bank Statement issued within the last three months
    Proof of permanent/residential address

Required Forms

Note:
It is mandatory for applicants to indicate dividend disposal instructions
If the account is to be opened using a Power of Attorney (POA) a copy of a valid POA is required.

1.2 Non Resident Sri Lankans

Required Supporting Documents

  • A copy of valid Sri Lankan Passport
  • Copy of Utility bill / Credit Card Statement / Bank Statement issued within the last three months
    Proof of Permanent/Residential Address
  • SIA (Securities and Investment Account) details with documentary proof.

Required Forms

1.3 Non Sri Lankans

Required Supporting Documents

  • A copy of valid Passport.
  • Copy of Utility Bill / Credit Card Statement / Bank Statement issued within the last three months
    Proof of Permanent/Pesidential Address
  • SIA (Securities Investment Account) details with documentary proof.

2. Institutional Investors

2.1 Local Companies

Required Supporting Documents

  • A copy of the Certificate of Incorporation of the company.
  • If the company has changed its name, a copy of the Certificate of Name Change issued by the Registrar of Companies is also required.
  • A copy of the Articles of Association of the company.
  • An extract of the resolution passed by the Board of Directors to open the CDS account.
    Alternatively the company may provide a certification in the relevant section in the account opening form (CDS 2).
  • An extract of the resolution passed by the Board of Directors stating the full names and specimen signature/s of the authorized signatory/ies to give instructions to Acuity.
  • A letter issued within 12 months by the Company Secretary indicating the names, addresses, NIC or Passport numbers and occupations of all existing directors & top shareholders (names and addresses) up to a maximum of ten shareholders.

Required Forms

Note:

For companies listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange, a directors list and a shareholders list is not applicable.
All documents have to be certified by the company secretary within the last six months
It is mandatory for applicants to indicate dividend disposal instructions

2.2 Foreign Companies

Required Supporting Documents

  • A copy of the Certificate of Incorporation of the company or equivalent document, issued by the Registrar of Companies/applicable authority where the company is incorporated.
  • If the company has changed its name a copy of the Certificate of Name Change issued by the Registrar of Companies/applicable authority where the company is incorporated is also required.
  • A copy of the Articles of Association of the company or equivalent document.
  • A copy of the Certificate of Good Standing issued within a period of one year by the Registrar of Companies/applicable authority where the company is incorporated.
  • A certified extract of the resolution passed by the Board of Directors to open the CDS account.
  • An extract of the resolution passed by the Board of Directors stating the full names and specimen signature/s of the authorized signatory/ies to give instructions to Acuity.
  • In the alternative the company may provide a certification in the relevant section in the account opening form itself (CDS 2).
  • Certificate to Commence Business issued by the Registrar of Companies/applicable authority where the company is incorporated. (where applicable)
  • A letter issued by the Company Secretary giving the names, address and Passport Number (passport copy) of directors and the name of the listed Stock Exchange and web site reference to the top 10 shareholders.
  • SIA (Securities Investment Account) details with documentary proof

Note:

For companies listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange, a directors list and a shareholders list is not applicable.
All supporting documents must be certified by a Justice of Peace (JP) or Notary Public.
