RAY ABEYWARDENA – CHAIRMAN
Ray is the Managing Director/Group CEO of ACUITY, which has subsidiaries involved in, Stock Broking, Fixed Income Securities, Corporate Finance, Venture Capital Financing & Asset Management. Prior to being appointed as Group CEO in 2009, Ray served as the CEO/MD of Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd, from 2001 to end 2008. In his last year as CEO/MD, Acuity Stockbrokers emerged as the No 1 stock broking firm in Sri Lanka. From 1998 to 2000, Ray functioned as the Managing Director of Forbes ABN Amro Securities. Ray has been associated with the capital markets of Sri Lanka for over 30 years, primarily as a stockbroker & since 2009 as an investment banker. He is the Chairman of Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd & Acuity Securities Ltd and serves on the Boards of Acuity Partners (Pvt) Ltd, Lanka Ventures PLC, LVL Energy Fund Ltd, Soft Logic Life Insurance PLC, Guardian Acuity Asset Management, and The Central Depository Systems (Pvt) Ltd. Ray currently holds the position of Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange. He is a past Chairman of the Colombo Stock Brokers Association.
Ray is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) & has an MBA from the University of Wales, UK.
Deva Ellepola- Executive Deputy Chairman
Deva is the Executive Deputy Chairman of Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd. Prior to the formation of ACUITY he was the Managing Director/CEO of HNB Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd, from 2001-2009. Before the exit of JP Morgan from the Sri Lankan market, and the firm became a wholly owned subsidiary of HNB, Deva functioned as the General Manager – Broking of JP Morgan HNB Securities (Pvt) Ltd from 2000-2001 and prior to the acquisition of Jardine Fleming by JP Morgan He was the Deputy General Manager at Jardine Fleming HNB Securities (Pvt) Ltd, a joint venture stock broking firm of Jardine Fleming and HNB, from 1995-2000. He also functioned as the Deputy General Manager of HDF Securities (Pvt) Ltd from 1993-1996. Deva started his career at Bartleet Mallory Stock Brokers (Pvt) Ltd in 1983. Deva has vast experience in the Stock Broking industry in Sri Lanka spanning to nearly 3 decades and has extensive senior level managerial experience of over 15 years. Deva has participated in numerous foreign road shows and international conferences on capital markets he has also participated in many capital markets related training programs both in Sri Lanka and abroad. He is a past Chairman of the Colombo Stock Brokers Association (CSBA) 2003/2004. He has served as a Member of all the important Sub Committees of the Colombo Stock Exchange in the formation of The Central Depository System & The Automated Trading System, and served as the Committee Chairman of The Internet Trading System. He also served as a Member of the Board Rules Sub Committee of the Colombo Stock Exchange representing the CSBA. Deva currently serves as an Executive Director on the Boards of Acuity Partners (Pvt) Ltd & Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd. He holds a Diploma in Marketing Management from the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) & possesses the Professional Stock Broking Certificate issued by the Securities Institute of Australia.
Prashan is the Executive Director / CEO at Acuity Stockbrokers. He counts over 21 years experience in the Stock Broking Industry in Sri Lanka. Prashan started his career with the Forbes & Walker Group in 1990. He joined Forbes & Walker Stockbrokers, and in 1998 was the Manager – Retail in the joint venture with ABN Amro Securities. Prashan joined DFCC Stockbrokers as Senior Vice President in 2001 and in 2003 was appointed to the Board of Directors. He initiated the first ever share buy back by one of Sri Lanka’s largest conglomerates following the provisions of the new Company’s Act. He was instrumental in numerous takeovers and sales of strategic stakes. Prashan provides investment advice to many of the high net worth individuals and leading local corporate entities and global funds active in Sri Lanka.
Prashan has an MBA from Edith Cowan University, Australia.
Ruvini Thenabadu is a Deputy General Manager – Corporate & wholesale Banking at Hatton National Bank Plc. She joined the Bank in 1986 as a Management Trainee and has held various managerial positions at Branch and Head Office level. Is a Director of Lanka Ventures Plc. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – UK (FCMA) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers London (FCIB).
ARJUN FERNANDO – CHAIRMAN – BSC, MSC (USA), ACIB (UK)
Arjun Fernando joined the DFCC Bank in August 2012 as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in October 2013. Arjun Fernando has 29 years experience in the banking and financial services industry in executive and managerial positions covering trade services, credit, retail banking and credit card operations. (28 years with HSBC). Prior to joining the DFCC Bank he was the Chief Operating Officer of HSBC Sri Lanka from 2005-7 and Chief Technology and Services Officer of HSBC, Bangladesh from 2007-10. His last assignment from October 2010 to June 2012 was as the Regional Head of Change Delivery (commercial banking, trade and supply chain), HSBC Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong covering 22 countries. He is currently a director of DFCC Bank and DFCC Vardhana Bank.
Arjun Fernando holds a B.Sc. Engineering degree from the Southern Illinois University, USA and a M.Sc.in Management from Clemson University, South Carolina, USA. He is also an Associate of the Institute of Financial Studies (Chartered Institute of Bankers), UK.
Ruwan Manatunga – FCMA (UK), CGMA (UK), ACA (Sri Lanka)
Ruwan Manatunga, joined the Hatton National Bank PLC in November 2013 as Chief Strategy Officer/Assistant General Manager (Strategy) and was appointed as Head of Corporate Banking in July 2014 and Deputy General Manager – Corporate Banking in January 2015. Ruwan Manatunga has 20 years’ experience in the banking and financial services industry in executive and managerial positions covering Credit, Personal Banking, Credit Cards Merchant Acquiring, and Corporate Banking. (12 years with HSBC). Prior to joining Hatton National Bank PLC he was the Deputy Head/Senior Manager, Corporate Banking at HSBC Sri Lanka and Audi/Information Systems Manager at Ernst & Young, Chartered Accounts from 1992- 2000.
