RAY ABEYWARDENA – CHAIRMAN
Ray is the Managing Director/Group CEO of ACUITY, which has subsidiaries involved in, Stock Broking, Fixed Income Securities, Corporate Finance, Venture Capital Financing & Asset Management. Prior to being appointed as Group CEO in 2009, Ray served as the CEO/MD of Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd, from 2001 to end 2008. In his last year as CEO/MD, Acuity Stockbrokers emerged as the No 1 stock broking firm in Sri Lanka. From 1998 to 2000, Ray functioned as the Managing Director of Forbes ABN Amro Securities. Ray has been associated with the capital markets of Sri Lanka for over 30 years, primarily as a stockbroker & since 2009 as an investment banker. He is the Chairman of Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd & Acuity Securities Ltd and serves on the Boards of Acuity Partners (Pvt) Ltd, Lanka Ventures PLC, LVL Energy Fund Ltd, Soft Logic Life Insurance PLC, Guardian Acuity Asset Management, and The Central Depository Systems (Pvt) Ltd. Ray currently holds the position of Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange. He is a past Chairman of the Colombo Stock Brokers Association.
Ray is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) & has an MBA from the University of Wales, UK.
Dilshan Rodrigo- Director
Dilshan Rodrigo is Deputy General Manager, Risk Management and Credit Quality at Hatton National Bank. He is a member of the bank’s Corporate Management Team and reports to the Board Risk Committee.
He has extensive experience in Finance, Institutional Banking and Credit in two leading Foreign Banks – Standard Chartered and ANZ Grindlays.
He is a member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors and was recently elected Chairman for a two year period of the Asian Banker’s Policy Advocacy Committee. Asian Bankers Association’s membership comprises over 100 lending banks from 23 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Dilshan holds a MBA from Cranfield University, UK and is a fellow of CIMA and ACCA UK Accounting bodies and has actively served on both councils in Sri Lanka, particularly in the latter where he was elected President for two years.
He is presently a lecturer and examiner for Strategic Management for the University of Wales MBA Program in Sri Lanka and has presented technical papers in various forums locally and overseas on Strategy and Risk Management.
Amal Fernando- Director/CEO
Amal heads the Primary Dealer SBU of the Acuity group. He counts over 15 years’ experience in the Fixed Income Securities and Government Securities industry. He began his career in 1992 at Nexus Software (Pvt) Ltd., in marketing Finance & HR IT solutions. He later joined Ceylinco Securities & Financial Services Ltd. which was the only non-bank Primary Dealer arm of the Ceylinco Group at the time. He was instrumental in securing institutional and high-net worth clients for portfolio management and GSEC investments and was heading the Treasury prior to leaving. He then worked in Dubai-Internet City, where he overlooked the operations of a Sri Lankan based IT firm. He returned to Sri Lanka in 2002 to take over the local marketing function of the BaaN ERP.
Amal joined Acuity Securities Ltd. (formerly known as HNB Securities Ltd.) – A Primary Dealer for Government Securities, as an Assistant Manager in 2003. He was involved in enhancing the marketing penetration levels of the company and was promoted as a Senior Manager within a short span of time. Subsequent to the launch of the HNB & DFCC Bank JV, he was appointed CEO of Acuity Securities Ltd. in 2009, and was appointed to the board in 2013. He directly overlooks the overall growth of the company in areas of FIS market expansion and trading, whilst ensuring the operational and finance functions collaborate seamlessly. He is also involved in providing investment advice to HNI’s and institutional clients in maximizing their returns in FIS instruments. He holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management – Sri Jayewardenepura and is also a Post graduate Diploma holder in Marketing from CIM (UK).
I.R.D Thenabadu- Director
Ruvini Thenabadu is a Deputy General Manager – Corporate & wholesale Banking at Hatton National Bank Plc. She joined the Bank in 1986 as a Management Trainee and has held various managerial positions at Branch and Head Office level. Is a Director of Lanka Ventures Plc. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – UK (FCMA) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers London (FCIB).
Mr. Silva is the Deputy Chief Executive of DFCC Bank PLC. He was the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of DFCC Vardhana Bank PLC during the period January 2010 to September 2015. Mr. Silva started his professional career with the Department of Inland Revenue of Sri Lanka and joined the DFCC Banking Group in 1987. He was seconded to the service of DFCC Vardhana Bank in 2003 from DFCC Bank and functioned as the Chief Operating Officer of DFCC Vardhana Bank from the year 2003 until his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer in January 2010.He is a Director of Synapsys Limited and Lanka Financial Services Bureau Limited and also a Past President of the Association of Professional Bankers of Sri Lanka.Mr. Silva holds a Bachelor of Commerce special degree from the University of Kelaniya and a Master of Business Administration from the Postgraduate Institute of Management of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
