Arjun Fernando – Chairman – BSc, MSc (USA), ACIB (UK)
Arjun Fernando joined the DFCC Bank in August 2012 as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and is designated to take over as Chief Executive Officer in October 2013. Arjun Fernando has 29 years experience in the banking and financial services industry in executive and managerial positions covering trade services, credit, retail banking and credit card operations. (28 years with HSBC). Prior to joining the DFCC Bank he was the Chief Operating Officer of HSBC Sri Lanka from 2005-7 and Chief Technology and Services Officer of HSBC, Bangladesh from 2007-10. His last assignment from October 2010 to June 2012 was as the Regional Head of Change Delivery (commercial banking, trade and supply chain), HSBC Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong covering 22 countries.
Arjun Fernando holds a B.Sc. Engineering degree from the Southern Illinois University, USA and a M.Sc.in Management from Clemson University, South Carolina, USA. He is also an Associate of the Institute of Financial Studies (Chartered Institute of Bankers), UK.
Ray Abeywardena – Director/Group CEO
Ray is the Managing Director/Group CEO of ACUITY, which has subsidiaries involved in, Stock Broking, Fixed Income Securities, Corporate Finance, Venture Capital Financing & Asset Management. Prior to being appointed as Group CEO in 2009, Ray served as the CEO/MD of Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd, from 2001 to end 2008. In his last year as CEO/MD, Acuity Stockbrokers emerged as the No 1 stock broking firm in Sri Lanka. From 1998 to 2000, Ray functioned as the Managing Director of Forbes ABN Amro Securities. Ray has been associated with the capital markets of Sri Lanka for over 28 years, primarily as a stockbroker & since 2009 as an investment banker. He is the Chairman of Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd & Acuity Securities Ltd and serves on the Boards of Acuity Partners (Pvt) Ltd, Lanka Ventures PLC, Asian Alliance PLC & Guardian Acuity Asset Management Ltd. Ray was appointed to the Board of the Colombo Stock Exchange in 2012. He is a past Chairman of the Colombo Stock Brokers Association.
Ray is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) & has an MBA from the University of Wales, UK.
Jonathan Alles – Director – MBA (Finance -Stirling), A.C.I.B
Jonathan Alles was appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of HNB in November 2011.
He holds a MBA from the University of Stirling, Scotland and he is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka. He has many years of banking experience having served in Sri Lanka and overseas. He worked at HNB from 2002 to 2005 prior to moving on to the UAE. Having returned to Sri Lanka from the UAE in September 2010, Mr Alles re-joined HNB in the capacity of the Chief Operating Officer.
Tyrone De Silva – Director – CEI, MBA
Tyrone De Silva is a Senior Vice President and Head of the Corporate Banking and Investment Banking Departments at DFCC Bank. He joined the bank in 1989 and has been involved throughout in the Bank’s Corporate Finance and Capital Markets business. He serves as a member of Bank’s Credit, Investment and Asset Liability Committees and as nominee Director on the Boards of some of the Bank’s other subsidiary and associate companies.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Warwick, UK and is also a Graduate Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, UK.
Deva Ellepola – Executive Director & Deputy Chairman Acuity Stockbrokers
Deva is the Executive Deputy Chairman of Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd and Executive Director of Acuity Partners (Pvt) Ltd. Prior to the formation of ACUITY he was the Managing Director/CEO of HNB Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd, from 2001-2009. Deva functioned as the General Manager–Broking of JP Morgan HNB Securities (Pvt) Ltd from 2000-2001 and was the Deputy General Manager at Jardine Fleming HNB Securities (Pvt) Ltd, from 1995-2000. He also functioned as the Deputy General Manager of HDF Securities (Pvt) Ltd from 1993-1996. Deva started his career at Bartleet Mallory Stock Brokers (Pvt) Ltd in 1983.
He has vast experience in the Sri Lankan Stock Broking industry spanning to nearly 3 decades. He is a past Chairman of the Colombo Stock Brokers Association (CSBA) and has served as a Member of all the important Sub Committees of the CSE.
He has participated in numerous foreign road shows and international conferences and related training programs on capital markets both in Sri Lanka and abroad. He holds a Diploma in Marketing Management from the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) & the Professional Stock Broking Certificate issued by the Securities Institute of Australia.
Manohari Gunawardhena – Director – BSc, MA, MBA
Manohari Gunawardhena has experience in the area of general commercial banking, treasury, and asset and liability management counting approximately 19 years. She has extensive experience in the treasury area of the bank numbering 16 years. In the treasury field she has obtained wide exposure to the foreign exchange, money and fixed income markets and has been trained in the above areas in Dubai, Singapore and Mumbai. Currently she heads the Treasury at DFCC Bank group.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree, Master of Business Administration degree and a Master of Arts degree in Financial Economics. She also holds the Association of Cambiste Internationale (ACI) dealing certificate relating to treasury activities.
Dilshan Rodrigo – Director – MBA (Cranfield), FCMA, FCCA
Dilshan Rodrigo is the Chief Operating Officer of Hatton National Bank and serves on several board level committees.
He is a senior banker and possesses extensive experience in Retail Banking, Finance, Institutional Banking and Risk Management with leading local and foreign commercial banks operating in Sri Lanka. He is a member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors, an Alternate Director for the CRIB and holds several Directorships in subsidiary companies of HNB. He was elected Chairman of the Asian Banker’s Policy Advocacy Committee for a two year period.
He holds an MBA from Cranfield University, UK and is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK. He served on both councils in Sri Lanka and is a past President of the latter. He is a lecturer and examiner for the University of Wales affiliated MBA Program in Sri Lanka and has presented technical papers in various forums on Strategy and Risk Management.
Ruvini Thenabadu – Director – FCMA, FCIB (London)
Ruvini Thenabadu is a Deputy General Manager – Corporate & Wholesale Banking at Hatton National Bank Plc.
She joined the Bank in 1986 as a Management Trainee and has held various managerial positions at Branch and Head Office level. She is a Director of Lanka Ventures Plc.
She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – UK (FCMA) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers London (FCIB).
